The City Council of Woodway Texas is seeking an experienced public manager with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to be the next City Manager. The City of Woodway (Pop. 8,000) is located in McLennan County Texas south of the City of Waco along U.S. Highway 84. “The City of Choice” in Central Texas, Woodway is known for quiet neighborhoods nestled among tree-lined streets and gently rolling hills.
The City Manager oversees the operations of an organization with a Fiscal 2017-2018 Operating Budget of $10,153,879 for the General Fund and $5,322,300 for the Utility Fund. The Tourism Fund which accounts for revenues generated by the hotel occupancy tax has $606,000 revenues which meets the required expenditures plus debt payments on the Arboretum and related facilities. The City has 85 full time employees. Employees are organized into several departments including Administration, Customer Service, Finance, Human Resources, Community Services & Development, Arboretum and Family Services, and Public Safety. The City Council is seeking candidates who have at least seven (7) years of experience as a city manager, city administrator, assistant city manager/administrator or senior manager in an organization of comparable size and complexity to the City of Woodway. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or a related field. A master’s degree is desired.
