Student Programs
Our Association works in cooperation with institutions of higher education in Oklahoma to promote, develop, and enhance professional management training.
We also encourage students in the area of Public Administration/Affairs to consider careers in key management positions in Oklahoma's cities and towns.
Scholarship
Each year we offer $5,000 in scholarships for one or more graduate or undergraduate seniors enrolled in public administration with an emphasis on urban/municipal management.
Student Membership
We offer a Student Membership to our organization and invite public administration students to attend our conferences.
Internship Program
OMMS is partnering with the City of Edmond, as well as several cities in the Oklahoma City Metro, to provide an internship program for students interested in municipal government. Interns will work directly with municipal departments for a unique municipal experience.
We believe that the best way to assist municipalities is to ensure quality training and experience. By hosting interns, we are able to introduce the future administrator to a hands-on experience and understanding of the challenges that municipalities face. We are wanting and willing to be mentors to upcoming leaders of Oklahoma municipal government service.
Participating cities include the City of Edmond, the City of Moore, the City of Choctaw, the City of Piedmont, the City of Kingfisher and the City of Midwest City.
